Minecraft has many passive or (farm animal mobs) they all have different properties that are important to know. The use passive mobs are essential to your survival in the minecraft world. I will not be including zombie pigmen and wolves in this guide because they are neutral mobs as they will fight back when attacked.
Pig
Health: 5 hearts
Height: 1 block
Width: 0.75 blocks
Length: 1.25 blocks
Drops: 0 – 3 porkchops
Spawn: On grass with light level 9+
Pigs are essential in the early game. They provide porkchops which are an important source of food. In 1.5 when pigs are struck by lightning they will turn into zombie pigmen. Using saddles (found in dungeons) pigs can be ridden. Pigs walk around randomly but will not walk off cliffs larger than three blocks high.
Cow
Health: 5 hearts
Height: 1.5 blocks
Width: 0.75 blocks
Length: 1.5 blocksDrops: 0 – 3 leather
Spawn: On grass with light level 9+
The only renewable armor is made from leather which comes from cows. Cows can be milked by right clicking on their udder or ear. Milk is used to make cake. Cows walk around randomly but will not walk off cliffs larger than three blocks high.
ChickenHealth: 2 hearts
Height: 0.75 blocks

Drops: 0 – 2 feathers, eggsSpawn: On grass with light level 9+, have a chance of spawning when eggs are thrown
Chickens will drop an egg every 5-10 minutes. Chickens have a 1/8 chance of spawning when an egg is thrown. Eggs can also be used to make cake. When falling chickens flap their wings to slow their decent and will never take fall damage even if drooped from max height to bedrock. Chickens have the lowest health of any passive mob. Chickens walk around randomly.
Sheep
Health: 5 hearts

Drops: 0 – 3 wool
Spawn: On grass with light level 9+
Sheep can spawn as one of many different colors. They can naturally be: black, white, grey, dark grey, brown or rarely pink. Sheep will always drop wool corresponding to their color. Sheep can be colored by right clicking on them with a dye in hand. This is a more efficient way of getting dyed wool from died. This method will give an average of 2 dyed wool per dye rather than the normal one wool per dye. Sheep only drop their wool when hit by the player, a wolf, or a skeletons arrow. Sheep will not loose their wool when hurt by lava, cactus or fall damage. Sheep walk around randomly but will not walk off cliffs larger than three blocks high.

Spawn: In water anywhere, even the nether if water is hacked in.
Squids are the only water mob in the game. Their inc sacs are used to make black wool. Squids can suim down but they cannot swim up. This makes them collect at bottoms of ocean trenches. Squids will not die when taken out of the water and can be put in minecarts. Squids can be milked if you right click on their mouth with a bucket.
